Food Donations Sought For The 2020 Burgess Hill Community Christmas Hamper Project

18th November 2020 | By Peter Chapman

Preparations are well underway for the 2020 Burgess Hill Community Christmas Hamper Project and now the public are requested to find their Christmas spirit by donating some food in order for 250 hampers to be delivered to those in need in our community.

The project has been running for a number of years and is currently a joint effort, involving Burgess Hill Town Council, The Kings Church, Burgess Hill Food Bank, Burgess Hill Youth & Burgess Hill Lions.

There are just 2 weekends left for food donations to be made at a number of drop- off points.

If you'd like to contribute to the project financially, you can make a donation via the Burgess Hill Foodbank's 'Golden Giving' page

The following items are being requested:

Sugar, Tea Bags, Instant Coffee,
Long-Life Fruit Juice, Tinned Vegetables, Pasta Sauces,
Tinned Meat/Meatballs, Tinned Fruit, Tinned Tomatoes,
Tinned Custard, Angel Delight, Packet Jelly,
Tinned Rice Pudding, Biscuits, Jam, UHT Milk.

****As these are Christmas Hampers for recipients who often can only afford value items, it's politely requested that extra value brands are avoided where possible to make the hampers extrea special for those receiving them .****

Donation Points:
Tesco Superstore, Jane Murray Way - Open 7 days a week
The donation point is a trolly in the foyer on your exit (not to be confused with the food dump bin next to the customer service desk which doesn't benefit our town)

Scrapless - Martlets Shopping Centre - Open Tuesday - Sunday
You'll find a large box, expertly decorated with stripey wrapping paper as you enter the shop on your left

Burgess Hill Town Council, Church Walk
Open Tues & Thurs 9am-Noon, Fridays 9am-4:30pm
Limited opening hours during the lockdown period. There's a box on your left just inside the entrance for you to donate any items off the list.

Hold A Collection At Your Business!
Businesses are very much encouraged to hold a collection at the workplace. Any food donated needs to be delivered to the Kings Church, 33-35 Victoria Rd, Burgess Hill RH15 9LR, on Monday 30th November.

If you have any questions relating to the project, please email christmashampers@burgesshill.gov.uk

Spread the word, donations are sought for the 2020 Burgess Hill Christmas Hamper Project
