Burgess Hill Community Rallys To Support 'No Child Goes Hungry' Campaign This Half-Term

Businesses and community groups are linking up to help provide meals for children during the October half-term following the government voting down a proposal to extend free school meals outside of term-time.

Spearheaded by England international footballer Marcus Rashford, who's worked tirelessly to keep this issue high on the national agenda, more families than usual are struggling due to the impacts of the pandemic.

Where To Claim Free Meals In Half-Term For Your Children
If your familiy are eligible for free school meals, you can go to a number of venues from Monday 26th - Friday 30th October to claim a hot meal, sandwich or a take-away packed lunch. Please check the offerings for the various venues below...


Home Coffee House - Monday-Friday 2pm-4pm
The King's Centre, 33-35 Victoria Rd, Burgess Hill, RH15 9LR
During this half-term we'll be providing free delicious hot jacket potatoes and fillings for any child living locally who usually gets free school meals & a coffee for their parents.

Between 14:00-16:00. Just pop into Home Coffee House and say 'Half-Term' to one of our staff and we'll not charge you. Must be accompanied by an adult.


St Andrew's Church - Monday-Friday 11:30am-1:30pm
St Andrew's Church, Cants Lane, Burgess Hill, RH15 0LG
The Tasty Crust and Mabel's Emporium are both providing packed lunch bags/boxes which will be distributed from St Andrew's Church. Collection is from 11:30am-1:30pm Monday-Friday via the Ryder Hall entrance.


No Child Hungry - Monday-Friday 12pm-1pm
Labour Party Office, 15 Junction Rd, Burgess Hill, RH15 0HR
Members of the Burgess Hill Labour Party are offering a sandwich, snack and a drink from their constituency office from 12pm-1pm. Simply pop by and let them know how many meals you need - no questions asked. They also have a small amount of non-perishable food available for you to take away.


Cafe Makara - Monday-Friday 2pm-4pm
Cafe Makara, 231 London Road , Burgess Hill, RH15 9QU
Cafe Makara are offering free cold sandwiches for qualifying children’s during the half term. Just pop in between 14:00- 16:00.


Munchies - Monday-Friday 9am-2pm
14 Valebridge Rd, Burgess Hill, RH15 0RB
Packed lunches can be collected from Munchies from 9 am to 2 pm every day throughout half term. Simply give us a call on 01444 235015 & we will have the lunches all ready for you.


Burgess Hill Town Football Club - Friday Noon-2pm
Burgess Hill Town Football Club, Maple Drive, Burgess Hill, RH15 8DL
The Hillians Bar at Burgess Hill Town Football Club will be offering Hot Dogs, Fruit and Drinks from noon until 2pm on Friday 30th October.
