COVID-19 Causes The Burgess Hill Book Den To Close Until Further Notice

17th March 2020 | By Peter Chapman

Another source of reading material has closed to the public after the Burgess Hill Book Den in Church Walk made the decision owing to many of their volunteers being over the age of 70.

In a statement published on their Facebook Page, the Burgess Hill District Lions wrote:

COVID-19 update:

At our monthly business meeting last night, it was unanimously agreed to postpone all our meetings until further notice.

Taking into consideration most of the volunteers working in the Bookden are people in the over 70 year category, the shop will be closed from tomorrow.

We are in a very sad situation. BHDLC sends our best wishes to all our members, both local and international. To all our volunteers, we thank you for your hard work. Please stay well, take the advice seriously and look after each other.

If you're looking for some new reading material while taking a solo walk to get some exercise - as generously allowed by the government - then consider one of the numerous 'book swaps' we have in Burgess Hill.

Found in the repurposed telephone boxes, they are located at:
*The top of Freeks Lane on Leylands Road.
*Potters Lane near the junction with Holmesdale Road
* West Steet at the junction with Downs Road

Spread the word. The Burgess Hill Book Den has closed util further notice.

Will you look to use one of the local book swaps for some new reading material?
