Burgess Hill Bonfire Society Launch '50 Guys For 50 Years' Project

21st July 2019 | By Peter Chapman

Burgess Hill Bonfire Society have launched a '50 Guys For 50 Years' project to help celebrate their 50th anniversary and are looking for local businesses and community groups to take part.

At their event on Saturday 28th September, the society are looking to decorate an extra large bonfire with many guys and seek to revive the guy-making tradition which has dwindled in recent times.

Guy Making Packs Available
To help make the process as simple as possible, the society have put together special packs which includes a step-by-step process on how to make the guy, along with a boiler suit and elastic bands to tie off the ends. All participants need to do is supply a filling material - such as scrunched up newspaper or straw - and clothes for your guy. There is no set theme, you can be as creative as you like and use it as an opportunity to promote your organisation.

How Do I Register My Group's Interest & Receive A Pack?
If you are interested in joining in the celebrations by making a Guy, please contact Donna on donna.bhillbonfire@gmail.com to secure your space as one of the 50 participants

When Does My Guy Need To Be Made By & Where Do I Take It?
Your guys will need to be brought to the bonfire site at Fairfield Recreation Ground by 2pm on Saturday 28th September.

How Much Does It Cost?
To help cover costs, there is a suggested donation of £5 from community groups and £10 for businesses choosing to take part. Payments can be made via BACS or cash.
