Community Pay Tribute To Elido Vargas - A Happy Young Man Who Put A Smile On The Faces Of Others

It's been seven days since the passing of young Elido Vargas, the 15-year-old who attended Burgess Hill Academy.

Just Giving Fundraising -
Friends of Elido's family have set up a Just Giving page with the hope of raising £5,000 to support the family during this difficult time. Some of the funds raised will pay towards a service in Elido's native Dominican Republic.

The current total as of Thursday afternoon was £4,535, which included £335 from the friends and family of Birchwood Grove school.

before it was closed in order to have all future collections in one place.




A Minutes Silence -
At the request of their junior members, Burgess Hill Cricket Club held a mintues silence at St John's Park on Saturday afternoon ahead of their fixture with Scaynes Hill CC. Younger members of the community gathered around the boundary to join in with the silence.




St John's Church - Those affected by the death of Elido have been visiting St John's Church who have put on a series of special services. A large amount of flowers have been lined up by the entrance, along with notes and cards. A temporary memorial has been set up which includes a bag of haribo, a monkey, yoghurt, a potato and an orange.
