Martlets Shopping Centre Construction Management Plan Under Consideration

1st January 2018
By Peter Chapman

The redevelopment of the Martlets Shopping Centre could finally be upon us as Mid Sussex District Council consider a 'Construction Management Plan' submitted to them by NewRiver Retail for phase one of the project.

All works being undertaken on site will be managed and co-ordinated by Thomas Roy Limited, who will have a full time Site Manager and supporting site staff who will liaise with adjacent occupiers and the Local Authority.

The first tasks appear to be the removal of the 'bridge link' between Argos and New Look, along with the reconfiguration of the former Rocking Horse Antiques retail unit.

This whole area will be sealed off to shoppers with the use of hoardings while the 'bridge link' is removed. It means that you'll have to take a big detour in order to get into Lidl, Argos, New Look and the Martlets Hall.

BHU understands that all the businesses near Iceland have been given notice to vacate the centre by the end of February. Also at the end of the same month, access to the Market Place Shopping Centre by Iceland will be sealed off permanently.

Construction works are scheduled for 7am-5pm Monday-Friday, and 8am-1pm on Saturdays if necessary

We'll bring you a firm timetable of scheduled works as and when we receive the information.

You can see the construction management plan document in the 'related documents' section for planning application DM/17/4681 on the MSDC planning portal

Spread the word, a construction management plan has been drawn up for the redevelopment of the Martlets Shopping Centre.
