burgess hill christmas lights 2014Video: Burgess Hill Christmas Lights Switch-On
3rd December 2014

On Saturday November 22nd, Burgess Hill's Christmas lights were switched on at the bandstand in Church Walk following a 'parade' which included 'Father Christmas', reindeer, women dressed as the princesses from 'Frozen', the Fat Controller, members of Burgess Hill theatre club, winners of a fancy dress competition and unelected Mayor Anne Jones.

After a very long delay, the lights were finally switched on via a plunger that wasn't actually connected to anything.

Here's the video of the big event: (mobile users may need to click here)

Here's some photos:

Thomas the Tank Engine and a man that doesn't look like the Fat Controller.

Chris Goldfinch of the Marketplace Shopping Centre was revelling in his role of M.C.

It was rather fitting to have some reindeer at the event as the organisers took so long to turn the lights on that it actually started to rain #annoying.

A boy dressed as a pile of christmas presents covered in christmas lights won the fancy dress competition. A Harry Potter look-a-like was second. Anne Jones' unelected mayoral chains failed to impress the judges.

The Marketplace shopping centre was looking rather lovely.

Church Road all nicely lit up.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Pear?????
