burgess hill town footbal club badgeBurgess Hill Striker To Sign For Premier League Club
21st November 2014

Exciting and sad times at Burgess Hill Town FC as the club have accepted an offer from Premier League club Hull City to sign 19 year-old striker Greg Luer.

Luer hasn't been short of potential suitors, he spent time on trial with Millwall in the summer and most recently with Oxford United. He scored the winner in a reserve game for them against Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month.

"He has been a key player for us this year, and has been influential in the tremendous start to the season we have enjoyed. However, we have always made it clear to our younger players that we would help them progress their careers in any way possible and we are happy to honour that pledge with Greg.”

Terms of the sale remain confidential but Mr Newell said “I am sure that the terms agreed will stand the Club in good stead for the promotion push that we are undertaking.”

Manager, Ian Chapman “Everyone at the Club is very excited for Greg and I wish him every success. My task now is to make sure that his departure does not impact on our progress.

"I have some very talented young players making their mark in the first team, and I look at Greg’s departure as an opportunity for those lads to force their way into contention for a regular starting slot.”

Hillians fan Dan Gander "He's improved immensely since coming into the first team and more than deserves a chance to make it in the big time. If it doesn't work out we're more than happy for him to come back to Leylands Park!"

Luer will complete the deal subject to passing a medical with the Tigers. He'll join up with the club on January 1st when the transfer window opens.
