serco mid sussex binmen strikeBurgess Hill Binmen To Go On Strike!

8th October 2014
By Peter Chapman

Bad news for Burgess Hill residents who have their bins emptied on a tuesday, for next week it's not going to happen!

Employees of Serco - who hold the Mid Sussex District Council Refuse contract - are going on strike because the company have offered a less than 1% payrise.

The workers union GMB say that this does not keep up with the increased cost of living and that Serco can afford to give the Mid Sussex workers a payrise. GMB claim the Mid Sussex contract has proved very profitable for the company especially given the hard work of their employees.

Mid Sussex District Council are advising residents to leave their bins out on the following days in a hope that they'll eventually catch-up....by the next Tuesday!

They could at least strike on a day when it's not the BHU office's collection, rude!

For more information about the workers strike, you can visit the GMB Union website here:

Spread the word about the bins not getting collected next tuesday!

Are our binmen deserving of a payrise above 1%? Is strike action the right thing to do? Will you be one of the homes inconvenienced by their actions?
