sussex police logoOver 100 Items Seized From Home Of Suspected Burglar In Burgess Hill

2nd October 2014

Last Saturday evening, we received reports from residents of Chanctonbury Road of a very significant police presence, with multiple vehicles and officer numbers in double figures on the scene. They were seen looking in the gardens of properties and essentially had the area on lock-down. Officers were then spotted wearing blue gloves, removing items from a bin. Nobody was really sure what exactly was going on. A drugs raid was the popular assumption.

It's taken 5 days, but Burgess Hill Police have now revealed what they were doing on Saturday via their Facebook page....

On Saturday evening 27th September, Police went to an address in Chanctonbury Road, Burgess Hill, searched the house and found an IPAD believed to have been stolen in a burglary at a house in Stanford Avenue, Hassocks, the previous night.

Martin Collins, 41, of Chantonbury Road, has been charged with the Hassocks burglary and three others, in Burgess Hill and Hassocks. Collins appeared at Crawley Magistrates Court on Monday 29th September and was remanded in custody. Over 100 items were seized that are suspected to have been stolen in burglaries in the Burgess Hill and Hassocks area.?

So now you know. Maybe there was a 'Track my iPad' app installed that may have led the Police to the home?
