Oakmeeds 2014 GCSE Results Show Improvement As Students Across Mid Sussex Celebrate
21st August 2014
Oakmeeds Community College have recorded improved exam results today following a freak 2013 where just 49% of pupils recorded 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths.
That number has now increased to 55% in a year where the school has been placed in 'Special Measures' by Ofsted.
In a statement on the college's website, Headteacher Colin Taylor said
“I would like to congratulate all the students who have worked tirelessly and have been rewarded with good sets of results. We are very pleased that their hard work and that of their teachers has paid off.”
Elsewhere in the area, St Pauls Catholic College recorded an 84% pass-rate of pupils obtaining 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths.
Downlands in Hassocks had another strong set of results, 71% of pupils recorded 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths.
In a statement on their website, Headteacher Rose Hetherton said:
“With the end of the modular examination system, pupils have had to work immensely hard preparing for upwards of 20 examination papers. The pressure and stress they have experienced makes me even more proud of their achievements across the board and I am absolutely delighted for our pupils."
Oathall in Haywards Heath are also celebrating. The college has improved on last year’s successes and has achieved its best ever results in the key measure of students achieving 5+ A*-C including English and maths (exact stat not yet known).
In a statement on their website, Headteacher Mr Edward Rodriguez said,
“Our students have worked hard and been committed to their studies. The support from their teachers and parents has been critical to their success I am so pleased to see that all their efforts have been rewarded. It is particularly pleasing to see the trend of improving results continuing at the college.”
Over at Warden Park Academy in Cuckfield, 68% of pupils obtained 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths, that's a 3% improvement on 2013.
