Burgess Hill Robberies - Shop at your own peril!

4th February 2011
By Peter Chapman

A worrying amount of armed robberies carried out in quick succession in Burgess Hill has residents looking over their shoulders as they go about their business in town.

Lets look at the worrying trend of incidents in Burgess Hill over recent months:

Monday 24th January: Gunman robs the Post Office in Church Walk
Friday 21st January:
Gunman targets Santander in Church Road.
Tuesday 4th January: Lawrence Sissling Jewellers in Cyprus Road raided
Tuesday 14th December:
Gunman robs Post Office in Worlds End.
Tuesday 14th September: Gold jewellery stolen during raid on Spinks Jewellers

Thankfully all these incidents have passed by without any injuries or fatalities, but if you subscribe to the law of averages then eventually someone is going to get hurt.

It was suggested last year that crime rates would soar due to the economical difficulties that many are suffering from. If the spate of local incidents is anything to go by, then it looks to be true.

What we at Burgess Hill Uncovered find interesting is how a man would target the main Post Office in the town when it's located a stones throw away from the Police Station.
Amazingly the robber pulled off the job AND got away without a trace!
He's either highly skilled or extremely lucky, especially if he is the chap that had a failed attempt on Santander 3 days earlier. Are petrol stations no longer in vouge for our friendly robbers?

Our advice is to be vigilant, and if you are unfortunate enough to get caught up in an incident, don't try be a hero, adopt the hedgehog position!
