Burgess Hill derelict building

Big Shop Of Horror

19th September 2010
By Peter Chapman

You only get one chance to make a good first impression. If you enter Burgess Hill via Keymer Road, what impression do you get of Burgess Hill when you see the former Courts and Fabric Warehouse retail premesis at the top of Station Road?

Warning - The following images may cause distress

It's not a pretty sight, is it?

Being the concerned citizens that we are here at Burgess Hill Uncovered, we fired off an email to Burgess Hill Town Council to share with them our concern of the ugly building. Heck, it could cause tourists to visit Haywards Heath instead, and we'd not wish that on anyone!

A lovely customer services assistant who goes by the name of Kathryn, replied a few days later. Kathryn was going to contact Mid Sussex District Council about the derelict building and contact us once she'd heard from them.

So far it's taken 10 days and not a peep.

To be continued.....

What do you think of the building? Is it affecting tourism and the local economy?
Should it be knocked down and replaced with a petting zoo?
