Dear BH Uncovered.
Firstly a thank you for your coverage of the election campaigns and issues affecting the town.
I know that your interest stems from a real regard for Burgess Hill and from a wish to improve on what is already an excellent place to live. It is good that you are able to stimulate lively debate.
After three years on the Council it is apparent to me that it can only be strengthened by having competing views articulated.
For Example:
- If you wish to have the Martlets Hall virtually given away and then demolished VOTE TORY.
- If you wish to have the Orion cinema demolished VOTE TORY.
- If you wish to have heavy vehicles with building materials down Junction/Nye Rd VOTE TORY.
- If you wish to have thousands of new homes with 75% of development income
going to Haywards Heath and the villages of Mid Sussex and 25% to Burgess Hill VOTE TORY
- If you wish to allow developers to do what they like with no restraint VOTE TORY.
- IF YOU WANT NONE OF THESE THINGS:
VOTE FOR ANYONE ELSE.
Understandably I would much prefer that people voted Labour. We have already established something of an opposition raising awkward questions. We believe that the future of our town should be one which provides the opportunity for a good life for people of all ages.
We strongly believe that the local development plan - and our town's Neighbourhood Plan- will need to be rethought if development is not absolutely guaranteed at the £40 - 80 million on which the plan has been sold.
