Burgess Hill Into The Future
Remember the plans for Burgess Hill? Well there were 652 responses to the consultation. The council has been criticized for its presentational material. You must remember that, it was a couple of display boards at the town library and a single copy of the plans with "Burgess Hill Library" stamped on it.

The district council has vowed to make a greater use of presentational material in future "although scaled models and touch-screen displays are unlikely because of the cost."

How impressive such consideration is given to council taxpayers. Pity about the £450,000 that they paid to consultants beforehand, though.

Bad Law
Perhaps all those road safety campaigners would like to explain to me why Martyn Garside, a taxi driver, now has 3 points on his licence, having taken a seriously injured man from the Princess Royal Hospital to Eastbourne District General Hospital in the early hours of 20 January and having triggered a Gatso.

So, even though it was early morning and there were no cars out at that time, he has a driving conviction. Surely the magistrates would appreciate that a man who drives for a living cannot risk any convictions? Not a bit of it. They said that there were no grounds to spare him punishment.

Why don't the magistrates leave their names with the NHS Ambulance Service, so that when they are taken ill with a heart attack or stroke that they know that they wouldn't wish them to disobey the rules of the road?

NHS
Why is the local NHS trust in trouble? Perhaps this will explain: there are 325 proposed redundancies, and what do the managers do? Hire consultants for £500,000 in a hope that they will come up with ideas to reduce expenditure.
