Nine Lessons with Gareth Davies-Jones |
Nine Lessons with Gareth Davies-Jones.
Thursday 4th December
A unique acoustic look at traditional Christmas Carols,
Burgess Hill Fairtrade will be marking the start of the Christmas season with a very special Christmas Carols concert.
Billed as Nine Lessons, it features the vocal and instrumental talent of singer songwriter, Gareth Davies-Jones who sums up the event in his own words:
“Every year I’ve been putting aside time in December to do some very special gigs on the theme of Advent and Christmas.
"Music has always been an integral part of the Christmas season for me. Yet often the carols and songs drift by on a high street wave of over-familiarity that takes away the original potency and impact their writers intended.
So, armed with fresh interpretations, arrangements, melodies, and with a little background on the writers themselves, I hit the road with some of the best known seasonal works intent on helping people to look again. I also include a few of my own songs along the way.
"And you know, year on year people have said to me how they appreciated some time away from the inevitable hustle and bustle, to sit back and re-engage with the wonder of Advent and Christmas”.
Nine Lessons has been organised by Burgess Hill Fairtrade and takes place at St John’s Church, Burgess Hill on Thursday 4th December starting at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £7.50 and include a festive helping of Fairtrade mulled wine and mince pies.
Tickets can be obtained from the Help Point, Burgess Hill Town Council in Church Walk or via www.burgesshillfairtradefestival.com.
