The shut Becks garage on London Road has been the subject of much speculation for a number of weeks. Many people have been keen to put forward their prediction on what the empty building will turn into. You can read what the people had to say on our Facebook Page.
Thanks to Michael – our man that keeps an eye on the planning applications – we can reveal that The Co-Op have applied to Mid Sussex District Council to build one of their express stores on the land. If approved, it could be the third branch in Burgess Hill, along with the one on Maple Drive and the store proposed on the site of the Junction pub.
The planning application reference is 13/02762/COU for those of you that wish to visit the MSDC online planning portal to see the documents attached to the application. Basically, the car show room will be knocked down and turned into a customer car park. The garage at the back will be turned into the actual store. The existing entrances and exits for the BP garage will be used for access to the Co-Op
